The U.S. Men’s National Team takes on the Czech Republic in the first of three pre world cup matches Tuesday night at 7:00pm CST on ESPN. With the camp still with 30 participants, Bob Bradley will be forced to makes some decisions before the match.
Will Bradley use this as an exhibition to test some fringe players or gauge position battles? Will he use the match to give his starters some quality minutes to improve chemistry or give them (most European based players) a break after a long season? Will there be cuts before the match? Only able to name an 18 man roster, who will be wearing the shirt tomorrow in Hartford, Conn? Here is my projection:
FWD: Altidore, Gomez
MID:Beasley, Bradley, Edu, Holden
DEF: Bornstein, Bocanegra, Onyewu, Spector
GK: Howard
Bench: Bedoya (Holden, ’45), Buddle (Altidore,’45), Demerit (Oneywu, ’45), Clark (Edu, ’45), Johnson (Gomez, ’60), Torres (Bradley, ’70), Hahnemann
I think Bradley uses the game as a mixture of playing some guys he likes who need minutes and seeing what certain guys can do. Tomorrow I will write a pre-match piece followed Wednesday by analysis.
